NExT 2024 Tentative Exam Date has been announced by NCISM for admission in PG medicine courses. NExT is conducted to provide admission into postgraduate medical courses. It will be mandatory exam for all the undergraduate medical applicants to licentiate practice in India.
It stands for National Exit Test (NExT) & is being conducted by National Medical Commission (NMC) from the year 2024 onwards.
This exam will also be conducted for determining the eligibility & ranking for admission of desirous candidates who want to pursue PG medical education in the country in broad medical specialties in various medical institutes further. It is yet to be confirmed that FMGE & NEET PG exam will be replaced by NExT.
There will be two session conducted in NExT exam i.e. February & August from the year 2025. There will be two stages in exam i.e. Step 1 (CBT exam) & step 2 (practical or clinical/ viva voce exam). NExT 2024 Application Form

- The NExT 2024 online application portal will start from the month of July 2024.
- Candidates will be able to register themselves for the NExT 2024 through online mode only.
- There will be three stages in application process – online registration & providing basic details, generation of EUC code & complete the application form process.

How to Apply for NExT Test 2024:

- Step-1: Visit the online website of NExT (Link will be provided above).
- Step-2: On the homepage, press ‘Proceed to Basic registration form’ option.
- Step-3: Press the ‘New registration zone’ option to proceed.
- Step-4: Application instructions will appear in the screen, go through the given instructions, and click on the proceed button.
- Step-5: Fill the form by providing the details like personal, contact, address, and register yourself.
- Step-6: Upload the scanned images of photograph, signature, thumb impression, category certificate as per the given specifications.
- Step-7: Submit the prescribed amount of application fee as per your category.
- Step-8: Print the application form by generating the confirmation page.
NExT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

For Medicine:
- Those interns having completed internship of 270 days as on closing date of submission of application OR
- Graduates of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Sowa- Rigpa completed 1 year compulsory internship OR
- Foreign Nationals: Foreign nationals registered under Schedule III of the IMCC Act, 1970, or Section 36 of the NCISM Act, 2020 are also eligible to apply.
- No attempt limit for NExT exam.
For PG medical (MBBS Graduates):
- Qualifications: Those candidates in the final year of MBBS course in recognised medical/ institutions in India/ approved by NMC will be eligible for the exam.
- NMC approved all the foreign medical graduates for purpose of obtaining a license to practice medicine as registered medical practitioner in India.
- Those candidates with a medical degree for purpose such as pursuing an academic course, observer ship or any other purpose as may be specified and approved by NMC.
NExT 2024 Exam Pattern

For Medicine:
- Exam mode: The exam will be conducted in computer-based test mode.
- Duration: The duration of the examination is 180 minutes (3 hours).
- Paper Structure: The exam paper will test the understanding of medical ethics, clinical competency, and ability to deal with medico-legal cases. It includes videos, images, clinical case scenarios, etc.
- Language: The paper will be available in different languages – Ayurveda in English & Hindi; Unani in English & Urdu; Siddha in English & Tamil & Sowa-Rigpa in English & Bhoti.
- Type of Questions: Multiple choice questions (MCQs) will be asked in the NExT Exam.
- No of Questions: A total of 120 questions will be asked in the examination.
- Marking Scheme: For every correct answer, 4 marks will be given.
- Negative Marking: 1 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
For PG medical:
- Exam Mode: Mock/ practice test will be conducted in CBT mode.
- Duration: Total 3 hours will be given for Paper I and 3 hour & 30 minutes will be given for Paper II.
- Type of Questions: The Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) with single correct answer will be asked in the exam.
- Number of Questions: Total 120 questions in paper I & 140 questions in paper II will be asked.
- Time & Shifts: Exam will be conducted in two shifts from 9 AM to 12 noon & from 2:30 PM to 6 PM.
- Marking Scheme: 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer.
- Negative Marking: For each incorrect response, 1/4 mark will be deducted.

NExT 2024 Admit Card
The NExT 2024 admit card will be generated by the authority for those candidates who have completed the registration process. Candidates will be able to download the NExT admit card for mock/ practice test from the last week of July 2024. Appearing candidates will have to visit the website of authority to access the admit card.
It will be most important documents to appear for the mock test. It must be shown at the exam center to appear. The instructions related to the mock test will be mentioned in the admit card. Candidates are advised to go through the complete details after downloading it from the website.
NExT 2024 Result
Authority will announce the NExT 2024 result through online mode only. The authority will publish the result for practice/ mock test from July/ August 2024. As per the schedule, the NExT result will be announced separately for CBT & Practical or clinical/ viva voce on the website.

NExT 2024 Practical or Clinical/ Viva Voce
The NExT 2024 practical or clinical/ viva voce will be step 2 of the procedure. It will be held in person by respective state Health Institutions/ Universities.
The NExT 2024 practical examination will be clinical case based, simulated patients/ case aiming to evaluate practical/ clinical skills, clinical decision making & communication skills. It will consist with the 7 clinical subjects/ disciplines.
