IIT Entrance Exams & Eligibility Criteria

To get admission in the UG and PG courses offered by IIT’s, candidates have to appear in the entrance exams conducted at the national level and meet the below eligibility conditions.

Entrance Exams

Candidates have to qualify the following entrance exams for admission to B.Tech, B.Des & B.Arch courses.

JEE Main – Candidates have to qualify JEE Main, for appearing in JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced – For admission to B.E. & B.Tech courses in IITs

UCEED – For admission to B.Des courses

GATE – For admission to M.E/M.Tech courses

JEE Advanced AAT – For admission to B.Arch courses.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in pursuing UG & PG courses from IITs need to fulfil the eligibility requirements. Below are the basic eligibility conditions for candidates looking for admission in B.E/B.Tech, M.Tech & B.Arch courses.

Candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics with minimum 75%.

Candidates appearing for JEE Advanced 2025 must have been born on or after October 1st, 2000. Five year of age relaxation will be given to the SC/ST/PWD category.

For M.Tech programmes, candidates must have completed B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Sc (research), M. Sc & other equivalent degree are eligible for GATE exam.

IIT Admission Process

After qualifying the entrance exams mentioned above, candidates have to appear in the counselling process (JOSAA). The JEE JOSAA counselling is conducted for admission to B.E/B.Tech & B.Arch courses in IITs.

Candidates who qualify the JEE Main & JEE Advanced are eligible for JOSAA Counselling, which is conducted from the first week of June every year. During counselling, the round wise, category wise and branch based cut off is released in every round for admission to B.Tech, B.Arch and dual degree programmes.

For admission to M.Tech programmes in IITs, GATE COAP counselling is conducted in the 3rd week of March every year.
