GATE exam is a national level exam organized for those aspirants seeking admission in postgraduate engineering courses in the top colleges of the country. Some GATE exam guidelines have to be followed by the candidates in the examination center.

GATE 2025 examination will be held on 1st, 2nd, 15th & 16th February 2025. For the year 2025 GATE is being organized by IIT Roorkee. Exam will be conducted in online mode. Candidates who will be taking the exam have to follow a few guidelines and instructions.

GATE 2025 Examination Guidelines

GATE 2025 exam appearing candidates will be required to follow the following rules and regulations:

• Biometric information (Photograph and Fingerprints) for randomly selected candidates may be captured before the start of the examination.
• Candidates appearing for GATE examination must carry Admit Card and original valid photo-identity proof with them at the examination hall.
• Scribble pads will be provided to the candidates in the examination hall by the invigilators for rough work. Before using such a pad, a candidate is required to write his/ her name and registration number on the pad.
• Carrying of a mobile phone (even in the switched-off mode) or any other electronic device that can be used for communication inside the examination hall may lead to disqualification.
• Carrying printed or hand-written textual material, inside the examination hall is strictly prohibited.
• All forms of communication among the candidates inside the examination hall are strictly prohibited.
• Candidates should not tamper with the computer and the related hardware provided in the examination hall.
• Candidates found to have tampered with these willfully may have their candidature canceled. In addition, appropriate legal action may be initiated against such candidates.
• Any candidate found violating the code of conduct mentioned above or any other means not in line with the code and ethics of the GATE examination may have his/her candidature canceled. Examination of such a candidate may not be evaluated, even if he/she is allowed to complete the examination. In addition, appropriate legal action may be initiated against all such candidates.

Document To Carry On Exam Day

Below is the list of documents that candidates will be required to carry at the GATE 2025 examination center-

• Hardcopy of GATE 2025 admit card
• 2 passport-size photo
• One government  approved ID proof (Driving license, aadhar card, PAN card or etc)

GATE 2025 Preparation Tips

Here we have mentioned some important preparation tips for the GATE examination that is set to take place on the 1st, 2nd, 15th & 16th of February 2025 in various examination center:

Management of Time:

Time management is going to be a key for your preparation. Firstly, you must make a proper time table for your study. Give time for all subjects and you can also take extra time for important subjects. Giving time to any subject will depend upon how much understanding you have about it.

Know Exam Pattern and Syllabus:

Candidates must check the complete GATE syllabus and exam pattern before preparing for the exam. This will help to have a better understanding of the exam topics and subjects. Once you are familiar with it select all important chapters and topics as well.

Don’t skip important topics from the syllabus. Check marking scheme, number of questions, and total marks, and then start your preparation accordingly.

Practice Previous Year Question Papers:

Candidates can get an idea about the GATE exam pattern and format by solving previous years’ question papers. Through this, you will be able to know how much time is needed to solve question paper or each section.

Mock tests are the same as the real question paper. You should also solve and practice tests to have a better understanding of the questions that come on the exam. Mock test for GATE exam is easily available in both online and offline mode.  A mock test is also a good strategy to prepare for an exam.

Take Rest

Taking good care of health is very important for any student preparing for exams. While studying it is important to take a rest as it will help you to have a focused mind. If you are stressed while preparing you should take a walk, bath, talk to family, or do something that makes you calm or happy.
