Government Mohindra College, Patiala

At the time of its inception in 1875, it was the only institution of its kind in a vast area stretching from Lahore to Delhi. The college was upgraded to B.A. standard of Punjab University, Lahore. The college remained affiliated to Punjab University, Chandigarh and approved by the UGC. It is offering various courses in Science, Technology and Agriculture fields.

Campus

The sprawling campus of the college is spread over 21 acres outside the Patiala city opposite to National Institute of Sports, Patiala. The college offers financial assistance to the economically disadvantaged sections of society. Undergraduate tuition is exempt for the girls. Most of the faculty members of the college hold the doctoral and post-doctoral credentials.

Facilities

The facilities provided in the Government Mohindra College includes the central library, the computer center, the health center, the girl’s hostel, an auditorium with seating capacity of 600, a botanical garden and elaborate sports infrastructure, particularly for cricket and swimming. It has well-equipped computer labs, science lab and smart classrooms.

Programmes

The college offers undergraduate and graduate level education in basic sciences, political sciences, languages, history, public administrations, commerce, computer applications, Agriculture sciences, bio-technology and clinical diagnostics. The total departments in the college are 22. It also offers the diploma courses in post graduate disciplines. The course offered in Agriculture departments is:

Placement

The main objective of the placement cell is to make students employable by getting them placed in reputed companies. Every year many seminars and guest lecturers are conducted in the college campus. Many students get placed in various reputed companies. Seminars are also conducted by department of Employment Generation & Training, Punjab to make students aware of various job opportunities in various diverse areas.
