Uttarakhand Open University, Haldwani
Uttarakhand Open University (UOU) was founded in the year 2005 by an act of Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. The University is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) and it is recognized as Public University. UOU is listed in Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The University runs many schools that offers education in various departments. It has the School of Law offering master of law.
Campus
The University is situated in Vishwavidyalaya Marg, Haldwani, Nainital. The university offers distance learning education in various centers. The centers are well-accessible by the road, rail and air transportation.
Facilities
The educational programmes of the University operate on a three tier arrangement i.e., University Headquarter, Regional Centers and Study Centers. UOU has a network of eight Regional Centers and 300+ Study Centers that was established at different locations in the state that are Dehradun, Pauri, Roorkee, Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Dwarahat, Haldwani and Pithoragarh. These centers provide the facilities such as library, computer labs, medical, transport, lecture halls, seminar halls, conference halls and many more. The classrooms are well-established with the modern equipments such as LCD projector and internet facility. In order to make distance learning interesting and effective, audio-video lectures have also been developed in some programmes and are available online at the University website.
Programmes
The Uttarakhand Open University offers Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). It also offers Post Graduate Diploma in Management. The School of Law of Uttarakhand Open University offers the following courses:

Placement
The UOU has an active Training & Placement cell that organizes Personality Development & Soft Skill Enhancement programmes. The students come from different study centers such as Indian Institute of Management and Technology (Haldwani), Himadri Institute of Technical Education, Dehradun, Institute of Cooperative Management, Dehradun and many more attended the programme.
