The University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences (UAHS), Shimoga, Bangalore is the first integrated university in the state of Karnataka. The university is constituent of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences under its purview. The university was established in year 2012 under the university Act no. 38 of 2012. The university is autonomous which is approved by UGC & ICAR

Campus

The jurisdictional area of UAHS, Shimoga covers the districts of Shimoga, Chickamaglur, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Davanagere and Chitradurga. The head quarters of UAHS, Shimoga is connected to the State capital, Bangalore by road (NH 206) and NH 13 also passes through the city. It is also connected to Bangalore through Train with a journey of five hours. Nearest airport is Bangalore with 270 Km distance.

Facilities

The university provides every facilities regarding accommodation in the campus. The wide range of facilities offered by the campus which includes 300 seat AC auditorium, fully equipped gymnasium, on-campus sports facilities, etc. The University also has separate rooms for boys and girls and cafeterias. It also provides the co-curricular activities like yoga, Arts & Crafts, Music, Dance, Photography etc.

At present college admits 100 under graduate students served through Karnataka education Administration. In Master Degree it offers courses with an intake of six students, and except Agriculture Extension other five departments offer Ph.D degree programmes with an intake of two students.
