Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai

Tata Institute of Social Sciences was established in the year 1936. It is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC). The institution has been recognized as the first school of social work in India. The institution has earned recognition as an institution of repute from different Ministries of the Government of India and various State Governments, as well as international agencies such as the United Nations, and the non-government sector, both national and international.

Campus

The institution is located in Deonar. The nearest local railway station is ‘Govandi’. State Transport (ST) buses from Kolhapur, Solapur, Goa, Pune, and other cities pass by the institute and the nearest ST bus stop is ‘Maitri Park’. The best bus stop near TISS is ‘Deonar Bus Depot’.

Facilities

The institution provides all the necessary facilities to the students such as it has well adequate classrooms with modern teaching and training aids like overhead projector, LCD projector, and laptop , library which has a total collection of books covering different discipline and also subscribes to more Indian and foreign journals in the fields of management , a well equipped computer centre, seminar and conference hall which are equipped with modern communication system, wi-fi campus, separate hostel facilities for boys and girls and various other recreational facilities like cafeteria, and sports facilities for both indoor as well as outdoor game like lawn tennis, cricket etc.

Programmes

The institution offers course in MBA programme. The MBA programme is spread over two years. In the first year students study all subjects and in the second year they can take any of the specializations of their choice.

Placement

The college provides placement assistance to all the students. The college has a training and placement cell. The placement officer acts as a catalyst in facilitating the interaction between the students and corporate houses. Reputed firms come to recruit the students from time to time.
