Sree Mookambika Institute of Medical Sciences was established in the year 2006. The institution is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and approved by Medical Council of India (MCI). The institution imparts the academic career in the medical field.

The institution offers undergraduate programme in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and postgraduate programme in MD and MS. The duration of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme is four and a half years with the compulsory internship training of one year while the duration of the MD and MS courses are three years.
