Shobhit Institute of Engineering & Technology, Saharanpur
Shobhit Institute of Engineering & Technology (SIET) was established in the year 2000 by the Nice Society. The SIET is a private and self-financed institution. The society has also founded the Shobhit University in Meerut. The SIET is affiliated to the UPTU, Lucknow. Shobhit Institute is approved by the AICTE and MHRD, New Delhi. The SIET is recognized by the UP Board of Technical Education and the State Government of UP.
Campus:
The SIET is situated in the Adarsh Institutional Area on Babu Vijendra Marg at Gangoh in Saharanpur district of state UP. The campus of the SIET is built on 17 acres of land. The SIET campus is 40 km away from the three famous cities as Saharanpur, Karnal and Yamuna Nagar city of state Haryana.
Students & Faculty:
The college offers 450 seats as an intake capacity of students in all programmes. The members of faculty are also sent to the abroad for higher studies on full scholarship. The faculty is encouraged to pursue the PhD.
Facilities:
The SIET provides the scholarship worth Rs.1 Cr. to its meritorious students. The college provides the loan facility, insurance facility and medical care to the students, faculty and staff. There are around 14 laboratories and three workshops inside the campus with communication lab and computer centre which is equipped with the wireless Wi-Fi internet on the campus. The college provides the library, LCD projector equipped seminar hall, auditorium, separate hostel for boys and girls on the campus, cafeteria with Nescafe stall, indoor & outdoor sports facility and transportation facility. The college has the provision of courier service, bank and letter box inside the campus.
Activities:
The SIET conducts the education day every year on 11th November. The college conducts personality & soft skill activities and training for facing Service Selection Board. The college organizes the sports and allied activities every year on 6-8th Feb. as annual sports day. The colleges also celebrates and conducts the cultural activities like teacher day, engineer day quiz, music competition, classical dance, alumni meet and fresher night. The college leads the awareness programmes and social activities on alcohol abuse, education, AIDS and tree plantation.
Programmes:
The SIET is offering the 4-year full-time B.Tech degree programme in four disciplines of engineering and technology. The admissions on 85% of the seats are done through the SEE-2011 conducted by the UPTU and 15% of the seats for the students who scored minimum 50% at 10+2 level or appeared AIEEE-2011. Placement:
The SIET has a Training and Placement centre. The centre is providing the career counselling by the experienced industrial professionals. The TPC frequently invites the experts from various sectors for close interaction with the students. The TPC organizes trainings and industrial tours for the students and arrangement of campus interviews. The college has a career advisory service and a career advisor exists for every thirty students for counselling purpose. Maple Infotech, Birlasoft, capgemini, Essel Shyam, Aon Hewitt, Syntel and Cognizant are some of the top recruiters of the college.
