Shimoga Institute of Medical Sciences, Shimoga
Shimoga Institute of Medical Sciences was established in the year of 2005 and it is an autonomous institution of Government of Karnataka. This institution is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka and has an approval of MCI (Medical Council of India). It is the only medical institution located in Shimoga city.
Campus
This institution has a well-maintained campus located on Bangalore-Honnavara National highway – 206, Shimoga. Shimoga is the district of the state of Karnataka. The campus has total floor area including hostels & doctors quarters, about 34488 square meters.
Facilities
This institution has a spacious central library which has a vast collection of books, journals, CDs, databases, periodicals, etc. This institution houses fully furnished hostel to provide hostel facilities for boys as well as girls. It has a spacious auditorium equipped with modern equipment to organize various co-curricular activities. It also houses three lecture theaters equipped with necessary audio-visual aids. It also offers well-equipped laboratories, examination hall, medical facility, cafeteria, gymnasium, lecture halls, indoor and outdoor sports facility, etc.
Programmes
Shimoga Institute of Medical Sciences runs various UG and PG medical courses like MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), MD, etc. It gives admission to 100 students for MBBS course in each academic year.
