Madras Institute of Technology was established in the year of 1949. It was the first self – financing institute of the country. This college is a constituent of Anna Technical University. To being a part of Anna University, college is Affiliated as Anna University under UGC recognition and approved by AICTE.
Campus:
Madras Institute of Technology is located in Cromepet, Chennai. MIT is the first institute introduced the Avionics and Mechatronics in post-graduate.
Programmes:

The infrastructure of college is very reliable to learning the technology with spacious ventilated classrooms, computerized library, fully equipped labs, canteen, auditorium, Xerox center, laundry service, transportation facility, sports, cultural hall, conference hall, ATM and stationary. College has six block as hostel, 4 for boys and 2 for girls. College has three dining hall for capacity of 500 students. Hygiene RO water supply for students in capacity of 500 ltr/hr.
Activities:
The college conducts the physical education, sports events, rotary club, alumni speak, YRC, NSS and NSO activities.
Placement:
The placement department is attached to the centre for university and industrial collaboration (CUIC). the cell provides the project and research work along with the final recruiting for the job.
