Government Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh

The foundation of Government Medical College & Hospital was laid down by the former Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Chandra Shekhar on 20 January, 1991. This college is affiliated with Panjab University and has an approval of MCI (Medical Council of India), Government of India and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

Campus

This medical college has a sprawling campus located on Sector – 32, Chandigarh. The campus has been spread over around 36.09 acres of land. The campus is surrounded with serene environment and well-approachable by the road, rail and air transportation.

Facilities

All the classrooms are spacious & fully furnished and equipped with the modern teaching aids. It has a library which is fully stocked with the collection of books, journals, magazines, projects, etc covering all the areas of different medical departments. It houses a well-equipped auditorium to organize various functions and co-curricular activities. Other facilities which are offered by this college are department wise laboratories, medical facility, games facility, hygienically maintained canteen and many others.

Government Medical College & Hospital runs various medical courses such as MBBS, MD/MS, etc. With the MBBS programme, a 12 month’s rotating internship is compulsory.
