Government Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai was established in the year of 1960. The college is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi. It is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. The college has an associated institutions that are; Government Royapettah Hospital, Government Peripheral Hospital and Government Thiruvotteeswarar Hospital of Thoracic Medicine.
Campus
The college is situated on Poonamallee High Road, Kilpauk, Tamil Nadu. Kilpauk is a semi residential area that is located in Chennai. The city is well-connected to the road, rail and air transportation. The college has different blocks for administrative and academic departments.
Facilities
There is a separate lecture hall for each department’s with the facility of audio-visual aids. The college has a well-established central library with the huge gathering of Indian & Foreign journals, reference books, periodicals, newspapers and textbooks. The college has a separate hostel facilities for Boys and Girls with the mess. Other facilities are; canteen, computer lab, sports, seminar and conference hall, etc.
Programmes
Government Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai offers 4 ½ years + 1 year internship Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The annual intake seats for MBBS programme will be approximately 150 as per MCI guidance. The section of the MBBS programme seats will be conducted through Tamil Nadu state quota and All India quota. 85% seats will be filled by state quota and 15% seats will be filled by national quota.
