Faculty of Law, University of Calcutta was established in the year of 1909. It is a law department of the University of Calcutta. It was previously known as University College of Law. This department has six affiliated law colleges which offer BCI (Bar Council of India) approved law courses.
Campus
The campus is located at Hazra Road, Kolkata the capital city of the state of West Bengal. Kolkata city is well-connected with all the major cities through the road and rail transportation.
Facilities
It has a spacious library spread over 12386 sq. ft. floor area. It comprises of various old collections and rare books of the 18th century. It is fully stocked with the books, journals, databases, periodicals, reports, projects, etc. all the classrooms are spacious and well-ventilated and equipped with the modern teaching equipments. It houses a computer centre equipped with latest configuration PCs and net connectivity. Other facilities are sports facility, medical facility, transport facility, cafeteria, etc.
Programmes
Faculty of Law, University of Calcutta offers UG, PG and doctoral courses in the law field such as BA. LL.B, BA. LL.B (Hons.), LL.M, Ph.D and LL.D. This department gives admission in 120 seats for BA. LL.B courses, 50 seats for BA. LL.B (Hons.) and 36 seats for LL.M. programme. Some popular law courses are listed below:

Admission
Admissions into BA. LL.B programme will be done through the entrance examination, candidates who have cleared the 12th or equivalent exam with securing minimum 45% marks and 40% marks for SC, ST and PH student are eligible to appear for the entrance test. Admission in BA. LL.B (Hons.) will be given on the basis of merit list prepared as per the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
