Dr Vaishampayan Memorial Government Medical College, Solapur

Dr Vaishampayan Memorial Government Medical College, Solapur was formed in the year of 1963 by Dr. Vishnu Ganesh Vaishampayan. It is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The college is approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi.

Campus

The college is situated at opposite Districts Sessions Court, Civil Chowk, Solapur, Maharashtra. The college is attached to the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sarvopchar Rugnalaya (Civil Hospital). There are separate student, administrative and medicine blocks.

Facilities

The college offers separate hostel for boys and girls UG and PG programme. The lecture theaters are well-equipped with the audio-visual aids such as slide projector, overhead projector and LCD. The auditorium is available with seating capacity 800 seats. Other facilities are indoor and outdoor sports, residential quarters for faculty, gymkhana, laboratories, examination hall, canteen, air-conditioned seminar hall, conference hall, and workshop. The library houses a lot of collections of text and reference books, Indian journals, reports, magazines, etc.

Programmes

Dr Vaishampayan Memorial Government Medical College, Solapur imparts Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The time duration of MBBS course is 5 ½ years + 1 year compulsory rotatory internship. The college provides 150 seats for the MBBS programme. Candidates have to clear 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with minimum 50% marks. On the basis of the MH-CET, candidates will get admission in this programme.
