Department of Law, Punjabi University, Patiala was founded in the year 1965. The institution is affiliated to the Punjabi University and has the approval from Bar Council of India (BCI). It plays a very important role in imparting the legal education. Apart from offering legal education, the University offers pharmacy courses.

The department conducts 3 years full-time LL.B course and 2 -years LL.M course. Also, regulates Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in law. It has the research centre for providing research facilities. Students who have passed the 10+2 with 45% marks (40% marks in case of SC/ST) are eligible for taking admission in LL.B programmes offered by the college. Admission
To pursue LL.B course, students are required to appear the State Level Combined Entrance Test. Those who have passed 10+2 with 45% marks are eligible to appear the entrance test. For admission to LL.M programme, candidates have to pass the LL.B. with minimum aggregate of 55% marks.
