Darbhanga College of Engineering was established in the year 1998 formerly known as JM Institute of Technology. The institute was later renamed as Darbhanga College of Engineering in the year 2008. Institute was affiliated to LNMU University, but in the year 2011 it got the affiliation and became a member of AKU Family. College has been approved by AICTE- All India Council of Technical Education.

Darbhanga College of Engineering is situated on State Highway-75, off National Highway-57 (East -West highway) at Madhupur town in Darbhanga district of Bihar. College located 6 km from Darbhanga Junction and 80 km from Patna airport. college is well-connected by road, rail and air network with all major cities.
