Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore

Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore is a state government-run medical college that came into existence in the year of 1966. The foundation stone of the college was laid by H.E.Lord.Ampthil G.C.I.E Governor of Madras. The college is affiliated to the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. It is approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi.

Campus

The college campus is situated on Avinashi Road, MGR Nagar, Peelamedu, Coimbatore. The Coimbatore International Airport is located 5 km away from the college. The college is located just opposite to Coimbatore Institute of Technology. It is placed on the Trichy national highway (NH-67) that is closer to the Coimbatore Railway station. The college has a separate administrative, academic and student’s blocks.

Facilities

The library is huge and well-stocked with the large number of books, periodicals, journals, newspapers, magazines, reports, etc. The college has a dedicated highly qualified teaching faculty. There is a well-established laboratory for the students with latest equipment’s. The college also offers separate accommodation facility for Boys and Girls with all general amenities. There are also facilities for indoor and outdoor sports, gym, medical, canteen, classrooms, computer lab, etc.

Programmes

The Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore imparts 4 1/2 years + 1 year compulsory rotatory residential internship Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The college offers 150 seats for the MBBS programme. Through all India quota and state level medical exam, candidates will be selected for this programme.
