Coachin University of Science and Technology

Cochin University of Science and Technology is a government University established in the year 1971 by the state government of Kerala. The University is approved by the UGC. The faculty of Science and engineering was established in the year 1979 at Kochi campus. The faculty of engineering is also a research centre for many agencies as DRDO, ISRO, AICTE and UGC. It is the first university of India introduced the Information technology in B.Tech courses. The College is one of the few institutions offering the Fire and Safety Engineering in B.Tech Programmes. It has the school of legal studies that offers full-time law courses at UG, PG and doctoral level.

Campus

The University has three campuses; two in Kochi and one in Alappuzha in the same state (Kerala). The main campus is located in the Thrikkakara at 1.5 km off to the NH 47. The main campus is located in 180 acres of land in South Kalamassery in Ernakulam district of Kerala. The school of engineering and school of legal studies is located on the main campus of the university. The another campus (Lakeside campus) known as the city campus is located on the 12 km away from the main campus in Cochin city. The third campus (Pulincunnoo campus) is located at 65 km from the main campus in Alappuzha, Kerala.

Facilities

The CUSAT main campus houses in 14 teaching and research departments, 5 hostels, 8 auxiliary institutions, guest house, computer centre, visiting faculty complex, staff quarters, administrative office, central library, bank, post office, playgrounds and courts, health centre and a gymnasium.

The University Department of Science and engineering conducts various engineering courses as 7 B.Tech programmes, 5 M.Tech programmes (Full-time), 4 M.Tech programmes (Part-time) and PhD programmes in all disciplines as mentioned below. The Placement cell has been provided suitable placement to the students in various reputed organizations. The placement cell also organizes the training and development programmes. The major recruiters of the institutions are as ACC Ltd, Accenture, Patni Computers, Computer Science Corporation (CSC), HCL, IBM, Syntel, Infosys, Wipro and TCS.
