Burdwan Medical College imparts training, research and education in the medical field and was established in the year 1969. The institution is affiliated to West Bengal University of Health Sciences and approved by Medical Council of India (MCI) New Delhi.

The institution is situated in Burdwan, West Bengal. The campus is spread over about 51 acres of land. The nearest railway station is Burdwan, while the nearest airport is Kolkata which is 100 km away from Burdwan.

Facilities

This institution provides separate hostel facility for boys as and girls. Programme

Burdwan Medical College, offers undergraduate degree in the medical field. The institution offers degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) which is having the duration of four and a half years with the compulsory rotational training of one year.

Internship

The students enrolled for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme has to do the compulsory rotational internship of one year. The internship refers to one-year compulsory work in the hospital attached to the medical college. After the training the students develop leadership qualities to function effectively as a leader of the health team and they can deliver the health and family welfare service in existing socio-ecomic, political and cultural environment.
