Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is popularly known as the Amrita University. It is private and self-financing Institution approved by the UGC as a deemed University. It is accredited by the NAAC and ISO 9001:2008 certification. It is founded by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math (A Charitable Trust).
Campus:
The university headquarter campus is located in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. It is spread over in around 400 acres of land. The campus is sited on the foothills of Coimbatore in Amritanagar, out of the city area. The campus is well-connected by the road.
