Aliah University, Kolkata
Aliah University is an autonomous university approved by UGC (University Grants Commission). This university was previously known as Calcutta Madrasah upgraded to Calcutta Madrasah College and then to Aliah University by the Aliah University Act XXVII of 2007 passed in West Bengal Legislative Assembly. This university was renamed to Aliah University in the year of 2008.
Campus
This university has a beautiful, sprawling and state-of-the-art campus located in Taltala, Kolkata the capital city of the west Bengal state. It also has another campus located in New Town, Kolkata. The campus is well-connected by the road and rail transport.
Facilities
This university houses a three-storied building hostel to provide accommodation facilities to the students. It has a spacious library stocked with a good collection of books, periodicals, journals and other study materials covering the major areas of science, engineering, humanities, law and many other education fields. It has a large number of classrooms which are fully furnished and equipped with the latest teaching aids. Other facilities are computer centre, sports facility, transport facility, etc.

Admission
This university organizes AUAT (Aliah University Admission Test) for providing admissions into law courses. Students should hold a bachelor’s degree in any stream from any recognized university for admission to LL.M course. Candidates will be shortlisted for admissions on the basis of admission test. Admissions will be made through online counselling according to the rank in the merit list.
