There are two papers in JEE Main exam, paper 1 will be worth 300 marks with each section of Math, Physic, and Chemistry carrying 100 marks and Paper 2 will be worth 400 marks. JEE Main 2025 session 1 was held on 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, and 30 January 2025.

How Many Marks Are Required To Clear JEE Main?

Candidates are required to get the JEE Main qualifying marks set by NTA to clear the examination. The JEE qualifying marks are different as per the candidate’s category. It varies every year and depends upon several factors such as the difficulty of the JEE paper, the number of seats available, the total number of candidates appearing, and more.

What Are the Passing Marks for JEE Main?

The minimum marks required to qualify for the JEE Main or to get admission to any of the engineering colleges are known as “passing marks”. Those who will pass JEE Main will be eligible to take the JEE Advanced. JEE Main 2025 result will be released on 12th February 2025.

Once after the result, the NTA releases the JEE cutoff officially through online mode, which candidates are required to meet.

  • General Category: Around 90-100 marks out of 300.
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer (NCL): Approximately 70-75 marks.
  • Scheduled Castes (SC): Around 50-55 marks.
  • Scheduled Tribes (ST): Around 40-50 marks.

What Is a Good Score in JEE Main 2025?

The dedication or the term good score may vary as per the JEE aspirant goals. For candidates to have an idea below we have given the basic/ general score for JEE:

  • Excellent Score: 250+ marks (99-100 percentile) – If any candidate gets a score between this range then they can be admitted to top NITs, and IIITs, and qualify for JEE Advanced.
  • Very Good Score: 180-250 marks (90-98 percentile) –Can get admission in good NITs and IIITs.
  • Good Score: 120-180 marks (70-89 percentile) – Candidates falling between this range are sufficient for many GFTIs and lower NIT branches.
