NExT 2024 Eligibility – Announced
NExT 2024 Eligibility Criteria has been released for Medicine disciplines (Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Sowa-Rigpa). Check below for complete eligibility.
The notification stated that NExT 2024 will be conducted in October 2024. NExT is being conducted for granting license to practice medical practitioner of respective discipline of Indian system of medicine & for enrolment in State Register or National Register as a registered medical practitioner of Indian system of medicine after completion of 1 year internship.
Earlier, AIIMS started NExT registration for MBBS graduates but was deferred later. However, it is expected it will soon release notification and replace FMGE & NEET PG for PG medical admissions.

NExT Eligibility Criteria 2024
NCIMS has released a notification which mentions various points like eligibility criteria, exam patterns, and other related information. For the year 2024, the exam is scheduled in October 2024. However, in the future NExT 2025 exam, it will be conducted twice a year in the months of February and August 2025.

Internship Eligibility For NExT 2024:
Here, candidates can check the internship eligibility criteria of NExT for the Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Sowa-Rigpa disciplines as released by authority:
- Eligibility: It is mandatory for all individuals who have begun their Internships on or after December 20, 2023 (regardless of their year of admission or batch), to comply with the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Regulation, 2023.
- 270 Days of Internship: Interns who have completed a minimum of two hundred and seventy days of internship by the application submission deadline for the National Exit Test are eligible to apply.
- Medicine Graduates: Graduates of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Sowa-Rigpa who have completed a one-year mandatory internship are eligible to apply.
- Candidates who have not completed their internship but have qualified for the National Exit Test (NExT) will be eligible after completing their one year of internship.
- Foreign Candidates: Foreign nationals whose medical qualifications are recognised under Schedule III of the IMCC Act, 1970, or Section 36 of the NCISM Act, 2020 are also eligible to apply.
Age Criteria:
- There is no age criteria to apply for NExT 2024. Any medicine graduate (Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Sowa-Rigpa) who wants to get a license to practice medicine can apply for this exam.
Educational Qualification For Medicine:
Below, we have mentioned complete details about the educational criteria to appear in the NExT examination. Candidates must fulfil the given eligibility before applying for NExT 2025:
- Qualifying Exam: Candidates must be a Graduate of Medicine (Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Sowa-Rigpa) from a recognised institute.
- Internship Criteria: Candidates must have done atleast 270 days or one year internship.
- Appearing: Candidates in the final year of the medicine course are also eligible to apply.
- Foreign Nationals: Foreign nationals registered under Schedule III of the IMCC Act, 1970, or Section 36 of the NCISM Act, 2020 are also eligible to apply.
- Class 12th or 10th board marks will not be taken into consideration while applying for NExT 2024.
NExT 2024 Eligibility For PG Admission
Candidates can check below provided NExT Eligibility for the MBBS Graduates aspiring to pursue PG medical courses:
- Qualifications: Candidates in the final year of MBBS course in recognised medical/ institutions in India/ approved by NMC are eligible.
- Candidates having a medical degree for purpose such as pursuing an academic course, observership or any other purpose as may be specified and approved by NMC.
- NMC approved all the foreign medical graduates for purpose of obtaining a license to practice medicine as registered medical practitioner in India.
NExT 2024 Qualifying Marks
For practicing as a Registered Medical Practitioner or to pursue PG courses in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Sowa-Rigpa, candidates need to secure atleast of 50% marks in NExT 2024.
Candidates who do not qualify the NExT exam can use their medicine graduation degree for all the jobs and educational opportunities where medical registration is not mandatory.
Will NExT 2024 Replace NEET PG Exam ?
Till now the National Medical Commission (NMC) has not released any notification regarding NExT 2024 exam replacing NEET PG and FMGE. It is expected that the notification will soon be released.
If released, the MBBS graduates will be able to appear for NExT exam in order to pursue further pg medical education. Also MBBS students who are in their final year can also apply for the examination once the notification is released.
NExT 2024 Registration
- The NExT 2024 application form will be available starting from July 2024.
- Candidates can fill out the application form through online mode only and no offline methods will be available.
- Candidates need to fill out the registration form by providing details such as personal details, educational details, communicational, and other details.
- Candidates should be careful during registration as the authority may not provide a correction facility.
