Last year, the NEET UG exam sparked controversy for months, as it was found that the exam was not conducted fairly. For the 2025 session, an RTI activist named Dr. Vivek Pandey has sent a letter to the NTA requesting changes for the upcoming session.
He is concerned about the age and attempts limits and the move to an online multi-session format, also he has urged to make more fair conduct of the exam.
Candidates are commenting on the official authority’s post on Twitter about the release of the exam notification and sharing their opinions on the requested changes.
NEET 2025 Exam Pattern Expected Changes
Below are some of the changes proposed by a committee led by former ISRO chairman Dr. K. Radhakrishnan that candidates can expect for the upcoming NTA NEET UG 2025 session:
- Mode Of Exam: The exam for the upcoming session could be shifted to a hybrid mode. If online exams are not feasible, the exam papers could be sent digitally to centers, and students would continue to answer on OMR sheets.
- Two-Stage Exam: Some have suggested conducting NEET in two or more sessions, similar to the multi-stage format of the JEE Main exam. This approach will allow the exam to be conducted more efficiently and enable a larger number of candidates to take the exam fairly.
- Number of Attempts: The official’s Committee has suggested that a fixed number of attempts should be set for the exam, as currently, there is no limit on the number of attempts.
- Permanent Staff for Conducting the Exam: A recommendation also suggests keeping fixed staff to conduct the exam, as it will help enhance the consistency and reliability of exam management.
Candidates should also note that, as of now, no official information regarding the changes has been provided by the NTA.
