Academy of Maritime Education and Training, Kancheepuram

Academy of Maritime Education and Training was established in the year 1993 as a private and self-financing institution by Smt. Pattammal Educational and Charitable Trust. The academy owes the status of India’s first Deemed University in Maritime Education. The campus is approved by the UGC and accredited with the ISO 9001:2000 certification.

Campus:

The AMET University is located on the beautiful shore of Bay of Bengal at Kanathur in district Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu. The campus is just one hour drive away from the city Chennai.

Programmes:

The AMET University offers 7 UG courses, 8 PG courses, 6 Polytechnic diploma courses and more than 12 short-term professional courses in marine engineering and technology and management. Read More >>

Students:

At present, the campus has around 3539 students pursuing their courses. The campus has around 400 foreigner students including with from Africa and Asia continents.

Facilities:

The campus has the separate school or the department for each discipline. The campus has its own in-house ship. The campus provides the furnished hostel separate for the boys and the girls. The campus has the canteen, swimming pool, sports facility and medical facility.

Activities:

The campus organizes the training programmes and event and student may take the participation in these extracurricular and co-curricular activities like dance competition, sports event, photography, debates and inter-university and inter college sports competition.

Placement:

The AMET University has collaborated with four universities as City College of Glasgow, South Tyneside College, University of Strathclyde and University of Plymouth. The university is providing the training and development skills for the students including the final job placement.
