Dr B. R. Ambedkar University, Agra
The foundation of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University (originally known as Agra University) was laid on the 1st of July, 1927. It has 14 affiliated college and 2530 students of which, 1475 students belonged to United Provinces. Initially, there were four faculties in the university viz. Arts, Sciences, Commerce and Law. Faculties of Medicine, Agriculture, Home Science, Basic Sciences, Fine Arts and Management were added subsequently. The University has an autonomous body which is approved by the UGC, AICTE and PCI.
Campus
The University was renamed as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University in 1996. The University now caters to the educational need of the seven districts. At present university has approx 200 affiliated colleges and 15 residential institutes spread outs in its four residential campuses. Furthermore, this university affiliates colleges of Homeopathy, extending all over the state U.P.
Facilities
The classroom facility in the college is provided for the students are well-furnished. The classrooms are well maintained with furniture’s. Apart from this college has also a seminar hall which is fully air-conditioned. The LCD projectors are also attached in classrooms and seminar hall. It has state-of-art infrastructure which is well equipped and furnished. The university has many laboratories for each department. It has herbal gardens in which students can gain the practical knowledge. It has tutorial room, instrument room, gymnasium, hostels for boys and girls, mess, college bus, etc.
Programmes
The University offered various courses in its different departments. It has many affiliated colleges which conducts the various professional courses. It conducts the degree courses under the graduate, post-graduate and Diploma level. It conducts the Bachelor of Pharmacy of four-year degree course. The course provided here is the full-time course. To take admission in the B.Pharma, the candidates have to pass the 12th class with 60% score in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Placement
The students in the university are placed in various reputed companies. The students of the Pharmacy are working in various reputed pharmaceutical organizations like Ranbaxy, Cadila, Cipla, Panacea Biotech etc. There is a placement cell which is established by the state Govt. of U.P. The placement cell arranges the campus placement and contacted with the various companies.
