University Institute of Legal Studies – Panjab University (UILS), Chandigarh was established in the year 2004 . It is the constituent department of Panjab University that promotes legal education. The institution is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The institution provides the opportunity to the students to practice law in moot court and also provides internship.

Campus

The infrastructure of the college is situated in Sector 14, Chandigarh. The college has the sprawling campus facilitated with ultra-modern facilities. The pollution free campus of the college is well-connected with all modes of transportation.

Facilities

The state-of-the-art infrastructure of the college has facilities of fully functional library accommodating a rich collection of books, journals and e-resources, well-furnished hostels for girls and boys, classrooms equipped with modern teaching facilities, a conference hall, a well-equipped computer lab, availability of legal aid clinic, moot court, language laboratory, well-maintained canteen, mess and cafeteria.

Programmes

The institution runs 5-year integrated law courses. There are 132 seats available each for B.A. LL.B (Hons.) and  B.com LL.B (Hons.). Minimum educational eligibility for admission to these courses will be 10+2 passed with 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST). Law courses offered at University Institute of Legal Studies – Panjab University (UILS) are as follows:

  • B.A. LL.B (Hons.)
  • B.com LL.B (Hons.).

Placement

The college has a fully functional placement cell that organizes placement for the students. The cell organizes training programmes and workshops for the students. The students are selected by various legal firms, advocates, companies and NGOs.

Admission

For admission to B.A. LL.B (Hons.), Panjab University conducts an entrance test. The admission will be provided on the basis of merit list prepared on the basis of candidate’s score in entrance examination and qualifying examination.
