Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research was formed in the year 1957. The institution offers academic education and career only in the medical field. The institution is affiliated to University of Calcutta and approved by Medical Council of India (MCI).

Campus

The institution is situated in Kolkata. The campus has separate administrative block and student block. The campus is equipped with all the necessary facilities which are required for the medical college.

Facilities

Various necessary facilities are provided by the institution such as air-conditioned classrooms equipped with modern teaching aids like LCD, OHP and laptop. The institution houses an air-conditioned library which is stocked with books, journals, reports and magazines. The institution has a conference hall to organize seminars, presentations, guest lectures and many other activities. It houses a computer centre and also provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls.

Programme

The institution offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the medical field. The institution offers undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme for the duration of four and a half years with the compulsory rotational internship training of one year. The institution also offers postgraduate course in Doctor of Medicine (MD) for the duration of three years.
