Dr B R Ambedkar Medical College, Bangalore was formed in the year 1981 by Anandaa Social and Education Trust. The college is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka and is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi.
Campus
The campus is spread over 25 acres of land at Kadugondanahalli, Bangalore. The college accommodates the administrative block, departments and a modern OPD Block. The hospital is attached with the college campus.
Facilities
The Central Library has a wide collection of books that comprises of text and reference books in all medical specialties. The library is enriched with the digital facilities and computer systems. The college runs separate hostels for the boys and girls with all the necessary facilities. Other facilities offered by the college are canteen, sports, transport, ATM, internet, auditorium, Staff quarters, well-equipped laboratories, labs, classrooms, etc. The hospital offers facilities of 780 beds. The Pre-Clinical and Para-Clinical departments of the college are well-equipped with the modern and latest equipments.
Programmes
Dr B R Ambedkar Medical College, Bangalore imparts 5 ½ years Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The time duration of the MBBS course is 4 ½ years of academic study and 1 year of compulsory internship. The annual intake of students for the MBBS programme is 100.
