Tirunelveli Medical College, Tirunelveli

Tirunelveli Medical College (TVMC), Tirunelveli is a government run premier medical college that was inaugurated on 26th September 1965. The College is affiliated to the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. It is recognized by the Medical Council of India, New Delhi.

Campus

The college has a sprawling campus that is spread over 228acres of land at High Ground in Palayamkottai, in the city of Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. The college is well-connected with a bus station and Railway Terminal. The nearest railway station is located about 7 kilometres away from the college campus.

Facilities

There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The college has a central library with a specialized gathering of books, journals in medical and surgical specialties, basic medical sciences, biotechnology, radiology and laboratory medicine. The college offers the facility of well-equipped lecture halls, gym, indoor and outdoor games, reading rooms, auditorium, etc.

Programmes

The Tirunelveli Medical College (TVMC), Tirunelveli offers 5 and half years duration Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The time duration of the MBBS programme is 4 ½ years + 1 year compulsory rotating internship. There are 150 seats available for the MBBS course out of which 85% seats will be filled by the state quota and 15% seats will be filled through all India quota. The college also offers Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Science (MS).
