PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh

PEC University of Technology was formerly known as the Punjab Engineering College (PEC) which was established in the year 1921 as a public institution named Mugalpura Engineering College in Lahore (now in Pakistan). In year 1924 the name has become change to Maclagan  Engineering college. After partition it has been shifted to Roorkee with name as East Punjab Engineering College. After 1950 the word “East” was dropped from the name the Presently PEC name has become exist. After 1953 it was shifted to the present location in Chandigarh and become an affiliated college with Punjab University. In the year 2003 It got the status of Deemed and become PEC University of Technology by the UGC.

Campus

The present campus of PEC University of Technology is spread over in 146 acres of land in urban area of the city of Chandigarh (UT). The campus is divided into various buildings, blocks, faculties and departments. The sprawling campus of the university is located in Sector-12 in Northern Region of city. The campus is 9 km from the Chandigarh railway station and 5 km from the bus stand and on the waking distance from the Punjab University and state Secretariat.

Facilities

The campus has various amenities and facilities like hostels, Academic Building, Admin Block, Residential Complex for staff, Shopping centre, Lecture theaters, drawing halls, Tutorial rooms, Auditorium, computer centre, library, Reading rooms, well-equipped laboratories, workshops, spacious playgrounds, squash courts, tennis courts, swimming pool, students centre, gymnasium, post office and a branch of State Bank Of India in the campus.

Programmes

The campus has nine engineering educational departments. Campus offers 10 B.Tech/B.E. degree courses, 14 M.Tech/M.E. degree courses and doctoral degree courses in all departments. The most sought UG engineering courses are as the following:
