Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology (JIST), Jorhat

The Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology is established by Govt. of Assam in the year of 1971. This institute is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Assam and approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). The Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology is also known as JIST located at Jorhat.

Campus

The JIST (Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology) is located in Jorhat, Assam. The JIST campus is spread over 65 acres of land on the outer edge of Jorhat Town around 9km away from the heart of town. The JIST campus is situated near to Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI).

Facilities

This institute provides hostel facility separately for boys and girls (three boys hostel and one girls hostel). The JIST also provides transport facility, library (with over 11000 books on different subjects), computer facility, ATM facility, well-equipped departmental laboratories, well-maintained cafeteria, seminar hall, medical facility, sports facility and many more.

Programmes

The Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology (JIST) provide two B.E Courses along with three years bachelor degree in science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Information Technology). Here is the list of some main engineering courses provided by JIST in the following discipline:

Placement

The training and placement cell maintains contact with the companies regarding student’s placement. It also conducts group discussions, personality development talks, preliminary tests and many other placement related activity. The TP cell works as a bridge between the Institution and industry to take up industry visits, organizing seminars, Industrial Training and many other activities. The JIST have tied up with many companies like ONGC, NRL, BSNL, All India Radio, IOCL and many more.
