Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar

Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar popularly referred to as IIT Ropar or IIT Punjab, is one of the premier institution of engineering in the state. The institute is a government aided institute established in the year 2008 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development MHRD, Government of India. The institute is one of the eight new IIT established by MHRD under the IIT (amendment) act 2011. The classes for the session 2008-09 were held in IIT Delhi, and then from the year 2009 the institute started functioning in its Rupnagar campus.

Campus:

The college is situated in the Rupnagar city of Rupnagar district. The college campus is spread in an area of 520 acres of lush green land. The college is well connected to major cities like Chandigarh at a distance of just 42 km, the college has good rail connectivity as Delhi-Ambala-Una railway line passes through Rupnagar.

Programmes:

Faculty & Students:

The Institute has highly qualified and experienced faculty members, all the faculty are M.tech and PhD degree holders from the renowned institutions. The total no. of faculty in the college are around 70. The total no. of students in the undergraduate discipline is around 450 and the total number of Doctoral students is around 50.

Facilities:

The college has well built infrastructure comprising of all major facilities like state of the art workshops, well equipped labs, spacious and ventilated classrooms having audio visual aid, a computer centre with internet facility and latest hardware and software enabled computers. The central library of the institute provides access to thousands of books and journals, daily newspapers and weekly magazines. The other facilities provided by the college are hostel, sports, health and mess facility.

Placement:

The Institute has a separate Training and Placement department which manages all the training and placement related activities, the goal of the T & P department is to place maximum number of students through the campus recruitment process. Read More>>
