Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College (AKGEC) was established in the year 1998 as a private, self financed and co-educational institution by the Indian Institute of Management & Engineering Society. The college is affiliated to UP Technical University. The college is approved by AICTE and MHRD, New Delhi. It is recognized by the UP Board of Technical Education, State Government of UP. The college has awarded as ISO 9001:2008 certified institutions by BSI-UK.

AKGEC is situated on national highway-24 (Delhi-Hapur Bypass Road) at Adhyatmik Nagar in Ghaziabad, the district of UP. The campus is just 10 km away from the Ghaziabad Railway Station. The college is well-connected by the road. The campus is spread over an area of 40 acres of land.
