NIT Silchar
National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar has been established in the year 1967 as a Regional Engineering College in Assam. In the year 2002 it has been upgraded as one of the 30 the National Institute of Technology Silchar. The institution has been declared as the Institute of National Importance. The institute is recognized as the Deemed University by the UGC and approved by the AICTE and MHRD. NIT, Silchar imparts the high class technical education in engineering and management field through its highly qualified and experienced faculties.
Campus
The campus is located on the Silchar – Hailakandi Road on 12 km away from the Silchar City. The campus is 3 km away from the Silchar Medical College and 2 km away from the Assam University. The campus is spread over in 625 acres of land.
Facilities
The campus has state of the art infrastructure including science and engineering laboratories, workshops, health centre, post office, bank, shopping centre, games and sports facility, physical facility, staff quarters, recreation facility and separate hostel for boys and girls.
Programmes
The NIT is offering the six B.Tech degree programmes in engineering and technology. Beside this the institute also offers the 13 M.Tech programmes and an MBA programme. The admission to the NIT is done on the basis of the JEE Main examination. The engineering courses offered in the institution are as follows:

Placement
The campus has a training and placement cell to facilitate by the job placement to the final year students in various companies. The campus organizes the campus recruitment, guest lectures, and industrial visits and conducts the summer training, industrial visits and various skill development programmes. The most visiting companies are ABB, ALSTOM, AMDOCS, BCH, BCPL, Bharti Infratel, BOC, Capgemini, Denso Ltd. Haryana, EIL, Ellenbarrie Industrial Gases Ltd, Energy Infratech and Era Group.
